N.C. Wyeth

N.C. Wyeth was born October 22, 1882 and died October 19, 1945. He was an American artist and illustrator. He studied under Howard Pyle and would eventually become one of America’s best illustrators. He was a realist painter. He had to compete with the camera for art. He went to Howard Pyle’s school of Art where he learned Pyle’s art techniques and then later grew into his own unique techniques which were quicker, looser strokes and relied on ominous shadows and moody backgrounds.
